Graphic Designer with over 15 years experience. Jersey girl to the fullest, and have always put my career first. I worked in the music industry for many years in the New York tri-state area. But thanks to the decline of music sales, I had to make a drastic change. In 2012 (3 days before Hurricane Sandy) I moved back to Savannah, where I went to college. I was recently hired as the Advertising Art Director for South magazine. Although I miss my Jersey home and New York hustle, I make the best of every opportunity that comes my way.

Nuyorican Poets Cafe | New York, NY
Title: Door/Sign Up

During WORDS and ALL THAT! poetry open mic events, I would greet people at the door, stamp their hands, or occasionally cover the open mic sign up list.

Founded circa 1973, The Nuyorican Poets Cafe began as a living room salon in the East Village apartment of writer and poet, Miguel Algarin. Algarin, a college professor at the center of this blossoming arts community, was dedicated to bringing new work into the public eye. By 1975 it became clear that there were many poets and too much energy for Algarin's living room. Algarin rented an Irish bar, eventually christened The Nuyorican Poets Cafe.

A non-profit organization, the Cafe has emerged as one of the country's most highly respected arts organizations and has become an acclaimed forum for innovative poetry, music, hip hop, video, visual arts, comedy and theatre.

The mission of the Cafe is to create a multi-cultural venue that both nurtures artists and exhibits a variety of artistic works. Without limitation, we are dedicated to providing a stage for the arts with access for the widest public.s

Under the direction of Veronica Ramirez.

NYC is a graphic designer's mecca! During this internship, I was in charge of designing flyers, stickers, logos, and T- shirts. I also got to head up the street team and even did a little bit of it myself! I gained a lot of design knowledge and ideas, and was exposed to so many different concepts, which I never had in college. I'm so lucky to have been a part of this short-lived company. I received 100% credit and a 4.0 grade for my independent study for college. After two years, I moved back to the area to work in the industry. However, the music business is crumbling, and my goals have changed.
